SUNDAY
Mass was celebrated this morning, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, by Don Webber (USA), Provincial of Holy Cross Province.
Sr. Christine Anderson, the Facilitator of the General Synod, began the day by reviewing the work of the Synod during the last week.
The Synod then reviewed the Criteria for Restructuring from the Report of the Superior General on Restructuring.
Prior to lunch the Synod members were asked, in mixed language groups, to explore ways that the Congregation may move the work of Reconstructing forward.
In the afternoon the members talked of their hopes for the continuing process of Restructuring and at the end of the day they gathered in possible new reconfiguration areas.
At end of the day Antony Xavier Tharayil (India) led the assembly in prayer.

Our house in New York City (Jamaica) is like some of our foundations in other large metropolitan areas. It is an international house with steady stream of Passionist visitors from around the world. Our parish staff of Passionist priests, for example, is two-thirds foreign-born. Our neighborhood (Queens County) is the most diverse ethnic area in the United States. There are many opportunities for ministry in various languages and among various ethnic/cultural groups. Perhaps we need to investigate the possibility of making a house like this an international house where the ideas of the Synod can be tested and implemented.
Sincerely, Peter Grace, C.P., Rector of Immaculate Conception Monastery, Jamaica, NY, USA
